Roland Maier - Portfolio Manager, Analyst
Roland was a partner of Medex Advisors LLP, London, UK, from 2012 to 2015. Prior he served for ten years, from 1999 to 2009, as a porfolio manager of BB Biotech, one of the biggest financial investors in biotechnology, with several $bn assets under management. Between 2003 and 2009 he was the head of the management team of BB Biotech.
In parallel, between 2006 and 2007, he served as the CEO of Bellevue Asset Management AG, a global financial firm with approx. 35 employees and approx. CHF 3.5bn assets under management.
Prior to above he served for three years at corporate development of BASF Pharma, the pharmaceutical branch of BASF AG. During that time, when he was responsible for the development of the strategic processes of BASF Pharma, the prioritization of the rheumatic arthritis drug Humira took place.
Roland studied biochemistry at the University of Tübingen and at the ETH Zürich. In addition, he studied business administration and finance at the University of St. Gallen.
